The Pact - Episode 3

Bastei Entertainment | A Deadly Espionage Thriller Series

EPISODE 3 OF 8: Five young agents recruited by NBS, an internationally supported secret organization, return home after having failed their first assignment: preventing The Syndicate from stealing smallpox samples to make biological weapons to sell for profit. Agent Felicity Wilson travels home, intent on using her stepfather's association with The Syndicate as a way to infiltrate the corrupt organization. Once there, she unexpectedly discovers a photo of her birth father a man she's never met only to recognize the person standing next to him in the photo as her NBS recruiter, Agent Sullivan. Will uncovering Agent Sullivan's past give Felicity answers about her family she's been looking for? Meanwhile, Cape Town detective and fellow NBS Agent Nicholas Clark is determined to stop transport tycoon Rolf Voigt from getting away with cocaine smuggling. In his efforts to thwart the drug kingpin, Nick learns The Syndicate is looking to start smuggling something more costly than drugs. Now Nick and Agent Paul Leclerc must find that something.

-- ABOUT THE SERIES: NBS agents are trained for one purpose: bringing down The Syndicate, an international crime organization aimed at profiteering by keeping countries at war with one another. When an NBS agent is murdered shortly before her first assignment, five new recruits quickly realize the agency they're working for may not be as trustworthy as it seems, forcing them to make a pact in order to survive. Can the new agents stay alive long enough to uncover the truth behind their fellow recruit's death? Or is finding answers hidden deep within both organizations tempting enough to make one of them break the pact?

-- For fans of Robert Ludlum, THE BOURNE IDENTITY, John le Carré, THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD, Daniel Silva, THE UNLIKELY SPY and HOMELAND.

-- Christian Liberty Marshall is an Austrian-based writer, and musician with degrees from Vanderbilt University, and University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. When not performing as a violist, he can be found teaching at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, writing educational material for children, or translating German literature. EPISODE 4 OF 8: In an effort to bring down Rolf Voigt, a transportation tycoon accused of drug trafficking, NBS agent Nicholas Clark travels from Cape Town to Algiers. Before a video of the Algerian prime minister's kidnapping turns up, Voigt is found innocent and his ships freed to leave. Nick's fellow Cape Town officer, Detective Jordan Stone, insists the two South African officers drop their investigation into Voigt. Suspicious of Stone's motives, and determined to stop The Syndicate from smuggling the prime minister out of Africa, Nick heads for Port 1206, the last port of call for one of Voigt's ships. There he discovers fellow NBS agent Paul Leclerc has been kidnapped as well. Can Nick rescue Paul, keeping the pact he made with his NBS recruits to save one another? Or will The Syndicate be the end of him first?

Meanwhile Agent Felicity Wilson has managed to infiltrate The Syndicate. But her first assignment with the international crime organization puts her in a bind: recruiting fellow NBS agent, and computer programming genius, Leah Carlsson to join her for a top-secret project.

Desperate to uncover the connection she's made between her birth father, and her NBS recruiter, Felicity enlists Leah's help in finding the answers she needs. But can she stay quiet about her secret mission long enough to stay out of harm's way?

Glory Girls

BWL Publishing Inc.

Mary, Anne, Iris and tough little Effie form a formidable group when, in 1939, they join the FANYs, or more precisely the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry, euphemistically calling themselves 'The Glory Girls'. However, the glory they dreamed of is short-lived as their unit moves from the London blitz to occupied France. Forbidden love, betrayal and tragedy stalk them and as their personal courage is tried - and sometimes found lacking - survival seems to depend largely on luck. This is especially so for Mary. As a Special Operations Executive, and with very little training, she is sent behind enemy lines in a desperate attempt to save the lives of men in a safe house under Nazi threat. And now her only contact has been murdered by the Gestapo...

The Glory girls truly were worth their weight in gold...

Born in her grandparent’s old miner’s cottage overlooking the River Tyne, June Gadsby’s life has been as interesting as any published saga. Leaving school at fifteen without qualifications of any kind, she pushed herself beyond the expectations of her family. Her teachers realised her talent as an artist, but were surprised when she announced, at the age of eight, that she intended to become an ‘author’. More than once she heard the words of her strict, Victorian grandmother: "you’ll never make it…” Her mother thought that June’s writing was a ‘nice, but unsociable little hobby’. But June refused to lose sight of her ambition. On leaving school she started work as an office junior, taught herself shorthand and typing and became a secretary, eventually attaining one of the highest posts as Administrative Assistant [Executive Medical Secretary] at Newcastle University’s Medical School. It wasn’t until she wrote about her years of rejection for a Writer’s magazine that she was noticed by a literary agent.
